The Work Has Begun....
Well, this weekend didn't go as well as it should have, but they got a lot done on the house in the end. on friday adam was the only one on the roof until noon because brian had a dentist apt. in the morning. larry came over and was helping tear off from the scaffolding, and a neighbor that we had never met came over and helped clean up shingles off the ground, so that was nice. so friday they just got the front of the house all tore off and they worked until past dark putting up tar paper because the weather said it was supposed to rain on saturday. because it was so dark, they couldn't put up the last foot at the peak of the roof. on saturday morning i got up at 5:45 IN THE MORNING and found it to be pouring raining outside. because i am a diehard garage saler, liam and i went to morristown (they had their city wide garage sale). brian came over in the morning and him and adam got the last foot of tar paper up in the rain. brian stayed until about 11:00, then left because they couldn't work and he had a wedding to go to. adam's brother, lee, came over in the A.M. too and he stayed until after supper. the only thing they got accomplished between the spurts of rain was about 3/4 of shingling the front of the house. the main thing that got done that matters the most was that adam and lee moved the big tv from the living room into the "family room"(the addition) and moved the small one into the living room. i have been asking adam to do it for the last 5 months:) on sunday brian came over early and they got the front shingled then moved onto the back. adam's friend, mike, came over around 1:00 to help. and larry and vivian also made it over and they cleaned up all the shingles in the front yard. so, now the addition and front of the house is shingled and just the back of the main house and the garage are left. the rest of the house is all ready to get shingles bright and early tomorrow morning. i cooked meals all weekend and took care of liam, and rearranged the furnature in the addition, and i also had to make a trip to menards. so i got did some stuff too:) oh, yes, and the picture of bronx shows his battle wound:) i think he steped on a nail or something because he got a big cut on his leg/foot so i had to bandage it up with a rag because we now have blood all over the house, including on the carpet! well, now i think i have done a large enough blog i should be good for the next month:) guten tag!!
